Deni Roman was born and raised in St. Louis, came to Maui in 1999.  Her yoga path brought her to this island paradise where she could practice and teach the subject that has brought so much joy, awareness, and transformation into her own life.  Deni comes from a background of ballet, jazz, and modern dance.  She also competed nationally in body building, aerobics, racquetball, and marathons.  With a B.S. in Speech Communications from Emerson College in Boston, she became an ergonomic specialist for fortune 500 companies.  While achieving great success in the corporate world as a holistic health educator and business owner, Deni also raised 2 beautiful children.  She therefore understands the importance of finding balance in both personal and professional pursuits.

Even with her “success” in life, Deni felt that there was something more and began her spiritual quest.  Her search led her to sacred holy sites throughout India, Egypt, and Israel.  She found yoga and studied with Yogi Bhujan in Kundalini Yoga for ten years.  Since 1986, she has studied Iyengar Yoga and has attended classes at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute in Pune, India several times, learning directly from the Iyengar family.  It has been through the precise and detailed instruction of the Iyengar method interwoven with ancient spiritual wisdom, that has brought to Deni the clarity and understanding to find balance, peace, and purpose in her own life.

Deni teaches yoga as a path to Liberation integrating Iyengar Yoga, dance movement, meditation, and holistic healthy living into her creative and joyful teaching style.  From her decades of daily practice, Deni possesses a boundless energy to share her knowledge through her teachings and motivate her students to develop their own personal yoga practice.

Whatever your age, level, or ability, Deni will guide you to become aware of your present condition and help you move forward towards a life of peace, harmony, and complete health.  Her teaching style is clear, detailed, motivating, and fun.  Through your own experience with Deni, you will know that her teaching comes from her heart.  Her love of sharing herself through teaching is a gift to all of us.

Steve Salkin -- certified Iyengar teacher returns home to Hawaii after spending some time in Nevada, where he co-founded the BKS Iyengar Yoga Center of Las Vegas.

Steve understands what it feels like to be a beginning yoga student; and he will provide each person in the class with the individual instruction necessary for you to begin your practice of Iyengar yoga.

As a devoted student for over ten years, Steve has experienced the transformative power of an Iyengar Yoga practice in his own life and health. Raised in Southern California, Steve grew up as an avid surfer and also played college football.  Among the benefits he has received from his practice are healing and rehabilitation from injuries, spinal disc problems, and the general effects of aging.

A student of Eddy Marks and Mary Obendorfer of the BKS Iyengar Yoga Centers of San Diego for over ten years, Steve completed their extensive teacher training program in 2006. He also studies with Neeta Datta. In 2008, he attended classes at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute in Pune, India with the Iyengars. In December 2008, Steve received his Introductory level certification from the Iyengar Yoga National Association of the United States

Steve says:
"What brought me to yoga was a lifelong spiritual quest. Learning and practicing yoga using the Iyengar method has given me a framework for spiritual direction through the asana/pranayama/philosophy practice .

I started with an extremely stiff body and so have had to learn my lessons well in order to progress.  I have been blessed with receiving bountiful teachings from my teachers, and I love teaching because I can pass on some of what I have been given.  I love teaching because I can watch people transform their bodies/health/life through the practice of yoga; and I love teaching because it brings me to the moment like nothing else and deepens my own practice."
